A properly landscaped backyard can create an atmosphere that will have your family outside in the backyard more than inside the house. Having a place to sit back and relax is important. If you have a beautiful backyard and no place to sit, you cannot enjoy your backyard to the maximum potential. Determine what type of seating would complement your house, style and backyard. Patio furniture sets are a good place to start looking for ideas. Keep in mind the different types of materials used. This may later help you decide what other features to place in your backyard.
Pricing varies with the many types of backyard fireplaces to choose from. Chimineas can cost anywhere from $150 to $600. Smaller, plainer outdoor fire pits can be found for around $100. Larger and fancier ones, such as fire tables, sell for $1000 to $2000. Fire rings, being the least expensive, can be found for $100 or less. The fire units for the true outdoor fireplaces are anywhere from $500 to $2500 but you also need to purchase the materials as well as maybe having to hire someone.
A Two-Leveled Backyard: In a world of flat backyards, the two level idea may cause you to open your mouth in shock: backyards, sans the ones right above plate tectonic boundaries, typically aren’t two levels. But, maybe they should be. Two levels give your backyard an appeal that one level does not and allows you to get more creative with your landscaping. Perhaps one level is filled with grass, an area where kids and dogs (or deer and antelope) play, and the other is filled with beautiful rock or rose bushes. Whatever it is you decide to put on each of your levels, two levels will undoubtedly give your backyard a whole new dimension.
The least durable backyard fireplaces will be made of thin metals and clay. They will also be less expensive. The more durable ones would be made of stainless steel, cast iron or aluminum. Copper is also quite durable, but you need to know that it does oxidize and will change color from golden-bronze to a greenish hue. Also, you should be aware of the fact that iron may rust if left out in the rain and snow. You will find backyard fireplaces that are fueled by wood, natural gas, liquid and gel. The gases burn cleaner and there is less mess than wood. Of course, with wood fireplaces you will have more work to do such as cutting the wood for the fire but many people enjoy the crackle and pop of a real outdoor fire. If you choose natural gas, you will need to install the gas line and the fireplace will be placed in a permanent location rather than being able to move it around.
A backyard can mean different things to different people. For the congenial host, a backyard means a great place to gather friends and family on warm summer nights. For the avid gardener, a backyard means a great place to grow prized zucchini and the biggest pumpkins in five city blocks. For the kids, a backyard means a great place to play games of soccer or catch miller moths. For the dog, a backyard means a great place to spend some time after a large meal. No matter what a backyard means to you, chances are you want it to mean something and, chances are, you want it to stand out. If you are nodding your head in agreement, and want your backyard to house a superior deck or a creative garden, then keep reading: this (rose) bud’s for you:
